Brown butter and garlic cheese bread recipe
Serves 2
Ingredients:
For the garlic cheese bread
- 1/4 wide loaf French bread
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 2 large cloves diced garlic
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (heaping)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh Italian parsley
- 1-1/2 cups tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 3 pinches dried red pepper flakes
- 4 dashes ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
Directions:
For the garlic cheese bread
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Cut the bread in half lengthwise.
- Then cut the bread widthwise into equally sized pieces that resemble wide strips, and set inside (crust side down) a small casserole dish. Set aside.
- Heat a small skillet on low to medium heat and add the butter.
- Continuously stir the butter. Let cook on low heat until it starts to turn a golden color (about 3 to 4 minutes). The butter may start to foam a little bit as it’s cooking, but you should be able to see the golden color as you’re stirring it.
- Just as the butter turns a golden color, remove from the heat, add the garlic and stir together.
- Let the garlic heat up in the butter for about 2 minutes.
- Drizzle the butter and garlic on top of each piece of garlic bread.
- Top with the cheddar, Jack and mozzarella cheese.
- Add the parsley evenly on top of each piece of bread.
- Bake in the preheated oven until the cheese is melted and the edges of the bread are just starting to crisp (about 7 to 9 minutes).
- Serve while hot right out of the casserole dish with pizza Parmesan sauce.
- Heat a small saucepan on low heat and add all of the ingredients except the Parmesan cheese.
- Stir all of the ingredients together.
- Continue stirring as the sauce warms.
- Just before the sauce starts to boil, remove the pan from the heat and stir in the Parmesan cheese.
- Serve while warm with hot garlic cheese bread.
