Go slow when cutting them diagonally. I got better at it the more I cut.
Use just a little bit of frosting or candy melt to secure the two pieces together.
I gently trimmed off the bottoms so they would sit flat on a plate.
Cut the Airheads candy strips with scissors. It helps to wipe them off frequently so the candy doesn’t stick.
This purse was made from strawberry wafer cookies, but you could also use chocolate, vanilla or lemon.
Classic clutch cookie recipe
Ingredients:
- Long, pink wafer cookies (Voortman’s cookies)
- Cream cheese frosting
- Airheads candies (cherry)
- Pearl decorator candies (found in most baking or hobby and craft stores)
Directions:
- Using a serrated knife, gently cut a pink wafer cookie to approximately 2 inches long. Then cut diagonally through the cookie to make 2 angled halves.
- Put some cream cheese frosting in the center of 1 angled piece.
- Join the 2 pieces together to form the shape of a classic clutch purse. Trim off the bottom edge so the cookie sits flat.
- With a pair of scissors, cut a piece of cherry Airheads candy into an elongated trapezoid shape to fit the length of the cookie. Press a pearl decorator candy into the center of the Airheads candy. Adhere this piece to the top front of the clutch purse with a dab of frosting.
