Sure, Belgian waffles make a fantastic breakfast, but sometimes all you want is a savory waffle. Better yet, a super-stuffed waffle.
Create amazingly delicious stuffed-waffle sandwiches in your waffle iron using large, premade biscuits that take only minutes to whip up.
Instead of spending hours kneading dough and waiting for it to rise, the “dough” for these sandwiches is already made and only takes about 5 minutes to cook completely through.
Start out by removing the biscuits from the canister. Cut each biscuit in 1/2 most of the way, and press back the top of each biscuit.
This is when you get to fill up the biscuit with the fillings you want. For this tutorial, I’ll show you a version with mozzarella cheese and pepperoni to make a pizza-stuffed waffle. However, stay tuned for the end of the article, where I have 2 totally unique and fun ways to fill your waffle sandwiches.
Once the biscuit is folded back, press a thick slice of mozzarella cheese into the bottom, and then slice up some pepperoni to place on top of the mozzarella.
Seal up the biscuits by tightly pinching together all the edges. Make sure the biscuits are well sealed so the cheese doesn’t leak out onto the waffle maker.
Preheat the waffle maker to high, and place 1 prepared waffle pizza into the center of the waffle maker.
Tightly close the waffle maker lid, and allow the waffle maker to cook the pizza completely through. The pizza waffle shouldn’t take more than 3 to 5 minutes.
The best-smelling, crispy-edged pizzas will come out of the waffle maker. Allow the waffles to cool slightly, and then enjoy immediately.
