I like pumpkin as much as the next girl, but repeat after me: Pumpkin spice lattes are not a drink for August. I’m looking at you, Starbucks.
As I grabbed my iced coffee (iced, because it’s summer) the other day, I noted a countdown on the bulletin board telling me the beloved Starbucks pumpkin spice latte would soon be returning. I can’t even tell you how many days were left, but looking at the sign, I had the same feeling I have when I see Christmas decorations next to the pool toys at the warehouse store: extreme irritation. Just let me enjoy my summer, OK???
Apparently Starbucks is done with summer, and the pumpkin spice latte will be making its debut early this year — on Aug. 25. You read that right. August. So while you’re out tanning in 90-degree weather, you can sip on fall-flavored beverages, and I will sit next to you, rolling my eyes. That’s a promise.
The first day of fall is Sept. 23, which coincidentally is the first day of the year it makes sense to buy a pumpkin-y drink. I’m just saying…
