Sorry, coffee — Nestlé’s chocolate teapot is a game changer

Is there anything better than sitting back after a long day with a relaxing cup of tea and a bar of chocolate?

Until recently, the answer to that question was “no” (unless maybe wine was involved). However, the Nestlé Product Technology Centre in York, England, has created a masterpiece that totally raises the bar on relaxation: the chocolate teapot.

The technicians at the Nestlé center were originally challenged by the BBC’s The One Show to prove the phrase “as useful as a chocolate teapot” wrong. (If you live in the U.S. and aren’t familiar with this adorable saying, then can we agree to make it a thing?)

Luckily they succeeded, and the new chocolate teapot can hold hot water and brew tea for up to two minutes. Imagine the possibilities — mint tea or orange spice imbued with a subtle chocolaty aroma — and once you pour your cuppa, what’s to stop you from taking a bite of the vessel itself?

It’s even low in fat, at least compared to most chocolate sold in supermarkets. The teapot uses chocolate containing 65 percent cocoa solids, the perfect amount to make sure the pot won’t melt while the tea steeps.

Sadly the chocolate teapot isn’t yet commercially available, but considering that chocolate makes everything better, it can only be a matter of time.
