Dunkin’ Donuts has released a new breakfast item in honor of National Coffee Day (today, Sept. 29) that could be a lifesaver for those of us who, after a frantic morning, have to decide between coffee and breakfast.
The Dunkin’ Go Bar, a chewy granola bar, tastes like Dunkin’s Original Blend Coffee and boasts 7 grams of protein and 12 grams of whole grains.
Sadly the bar lacks caffeine, but it still sounds intriguing for those mornings when your stomach is grumbling for more than just a latte, but you’re craving that warm, toasty flavor.
In fact, coffee makes just about everything taste better. In honor of #NationalCoffeeDay, why not try one of the scrumptious, java-laced treats below?
1. Mocha fudge sauce
Mocha fudge sauce is guaranteed to perk up any dessert. But coffee can also be used to make a savory beef stew and even glazed ham — find out how.
2. Irish coffee cream fudge
Coffee and Irish cream liqueur make dynamite cocktails (after last St. Paddy’s Day, I can definitely vouch for that), but combined with chocolate they make a pretty outrageous fudge too.
3. Coffee as a spice
Coffee contains many different flavor notes that can be used to enhance other flavors, like a spice. Learn how to use it in a flourless chocolate-orange fudge cake and as part of a poblano-braised chicken recipe.
4. Espresso panna cotta with reduced amaretto syrup
Coffee, you’re so fancy! These elegant panna cotta are richly flavored with espresso, and sure to please any caffeine junkies.
5. Cappuccino muffins with chocolate chunks
Say goodbye to your travel mug and bring your coffee to go via these decadent muffins.
