How to easily grow tomatoes in planters (VIDEO)

Fresh fruits and vegetables always taste better, but not everything is freshly available. While you can’t grow all your favorites at home, you can grow tomatoes. They’re not difficult to maintain, and your entire family can enjoy juicy, freshly grown tomatoes in no time.

To get your tomatoes up and running, you’ll first need a few items to get started. Pick out any planter or container you want to grow your tomatoes in. Make sure it’s large enough to fit the plant, and give it room to grow, depending on how big of a plant you purchase. You’ll also need to pick up some compost, container soil, fertilizer and a tomato cage. You can find these items at Home Depot, Lowe’s or other hardware stores.

After you have all your materials, you’re ready to get started planting. First, mix 2 parts soil to 1 part organic compound. Fill the container without packing the soil in too tightly. Slowly add water to get the mixture wet, and place 1/2 the tomato plant under the soil line. Add some fertilizer to the top of the soil, and water the plant again. When your soil is nice and moist, add the tomato cage, and tie the main stems of the plant to the cage with twine or another sturdy material.

With a little TLC, your family will have delicious tomatoes to enjoy in a variety of ways.
