It’s officially Christmastime, which means it’s totally acceptable to decorate everything you eat. In fact, I suggest you turn every meal, snack and dessert into an homage to Santa Claus, because where would this holiday be without him? From Santa face pancakes to savory crackers to the cutest strawberries you’ve ever seen, Santa will never taste so good.
Now, I know it sounds gruesome to eat Santa, so clearly we’re not talking literally. These delicious appetizers, meals and desserts will turn every bite you have this season into a very fun and festive one.
Breakfast Santa face pancakes recipe
Slightly adapted from Taste of Home
Can’t get your kids to eat breakfast? Make these Santa face pancakes. They are so cute and take only about 12 minutes to make and decorate.
Serves 6
Prep time: 6 minutes | Cook time: 6 minutes | Total time: 12 minutes
Ingredients:
- 12 premade buttermilk pancakes
- 2-1/2 large bananas, sliced
- 24 milk chocolate chips
- 12 raspberries
- 1 can cherry or raspberry pie filling
- Whipped cream
Directions:
- Working 1 pancake at a time, place 2 banana slices on the top half of 1 pancake. Add 2 chocolate chips to the center to make pupils. Add 1 raspberry for the nose. Carefully spread the whipped cream below the raspberry to make a beard and then above the eyes to make the trim of the hat. Using a spoon, create a hat shape with the pie filling, and then add a dollop of whipped cream for the pompom at the top of the hat.
- Repeat until all the faces have been made. Serve immediately.
Tasty Santa crackers recipe
Need an easy and quick appetizer for your holiday get-together? Make these Santa crackers. They take less than 15 minutes to make and require ingredients you probably already have on hand. If you’re not a huge fan of goat cheese, then sub in ricotta or cream cheese.
Yields 24
Total time: 12 minutes
Ingredients:
- 24 circular crackers (I used Ritz)
- 3 celery stalks, sliced thin
- 12 large strawberries, sliced in half
- Capers (for the eyes)
- 6 ounces soft, spreadable goat cheese
Directions:
- Working 1 cracker at a time, carefully spread about 1/2 tablespoon of goat cheese over the bottom half of the cracker (to make the beard). Place 2 slivers of celery right above the beard to create a mustache. Carefully place 2 larger capers on the top half of the cracker (for eyes) and 1 smaller caper right below in the center (for the nose).
- To make the hat, carefully spread a dab of goat cheese over the bottom of the strawberry (the base of the hat).
- To serve, place the crackers with the Santa faces carefully on a plate, and add the hats. Repeat until all the crackers have been made. Either serve immediately or chill until ready to serve.
Adorable strawberry Santas recipe
Adapted from Leanne Bakes
These cute strawberry Santas will probably go faster than it takes you to make them. Made from just three ingredients, these easy little snacks make great after-school treats for your kids (or husband!).
Serves 8
Total time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
- 8 large strawberries
- 2/3 cup whipped cream (either handmade or in a can)
- 16 mini chocolate chips
- Powdered sugar, for garnish
Directions:
- Wash and pat dry the strawberries. Carefully slice off the tips of the strawberries to make little hats, and then sit the strawberries down. Remove the leaves.
- Using a melon baller or a small spoon, carefully hollow out the strawberry, and discard the flesh. Fill with whipped cream till it overflows the top (so you can add the eyes for the Santa).
- Stick the hat on top of the whipped cream, and add 2 mini chocolate chips for eyes. Repeat until all the Santas have been made.
- Using a toothpick, make 3 dots out of whipped cream on the bottom of the strawberry (to create buttons for his jacket) and 1 on top of the hat (to create the iconic pompom of Santa’s hat).
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar, and serve.
