Tourists from many countries flock to Muskoka in the heart of Canada’s province of Ontario’s picturesque cottage country. Savour Muskoka is an organization dedicated to promoting the culinary experiences of the region and so much more. The organization sent both farmers and chefs to the media corridor at the G8 and G20 Summits in Toronto for four days — and the international media sure appreciated the tastes of local Muskoka foods.
Savour Muskoka
Savour Muskoka, an incorporated, registered not-for-profit organization, manages information between farmers and chefs in the community of Muskoka and Parry Sound. “We help the chefs understand the availability of locally sourced products and then help tell the stories of where the products came through on the restaurant menus, through their cuisine.
From the farmer’s point of view, we assist with logistics and with building their farms and their products to meet the demands of the restaurant chefs,” says James Murphy, General Manager of Savour Muskoka.
The organizations aim is to get the consumer involved in Savour Muskoka as well as the restaurants, chefs and local farmers through events, newsletter, marketing materials and other networking opportunities.
