Halloween chocolate-covered cookie dough pops

Serving size 40

You may have heard of cake pops, and you may have even heard of chocolate-covered cookie dough balls, but have you ever considered putting them together? Two wonderfully delicious worlds collide in these Halloween-themed treats. Once you show up with these babies, consider your invitation to every upcoming event secured.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1-1/4 cups mini chocolate chips (more or less, depending on preference)
  • 2 to 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Orange sprinkles
  • 40 6-inch wooden kebab skewers

Directions:

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Once thoroughly combined, stir in the flour and vanilla. Add in the mini chocolate chips. Cover with plastic wrap, and leave in the fridge for an hour.
  2. Roll a tablespoon of dough in your hands until it creates a smooth, even ball, and lay it on a pan. Continue this process until all the dough is rolled. Carefully insert a skewer into each ball. Place the tray in the freezer for 45 minutes.
  3. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a double boiler over low heat.
  4. One at a time, dip the cookie dough balls into the melted chocolate. Use a spoon if necessary to ensure balls are completely covered. Remove any excess chocolate so it won’t drip down the stick when drying. Depending on the quality of the chocolate you use, you may require more or less for coating. If you start to run out, simply melt more in the double boiler. Sprinkle the top of each coated ball with orange sprinkles.
  5. There are several methods you can use to let the cookie dough balls dry attractively. The easiest is to insert the opposite ends of the skewers into a large piece of Styrofoam. If you don’t have any on hand, however, simply lay the balls over the edge of a large pan, and tape the opposite ends of the skewers to the pan. Make sure to balance opposite sides of the tray so it doesn’t tip over.
  6. Once the chocolate has dried, the balls can be easily transferred to a resealable container for travel. Store in the fridge until required.
  7. Most important, don’t forget there are many fun and attractive ways to display these little goodies. Place them in Halloween cups around the room or in a large Halloween vase at the centre of a dessert table. Or wrap them up in little pieces of decorative plastic and ribbons for individual distribution. They’re sure to be a hit, so don’t miss out on your chance to show them off!

Note: If you want to continue being loved and adored at every party you attend once Halloween is over, just switch up the sprinkles depending on the holiday or event you’re celebrating. Or if you’re feeling really adventurous, try a different kind of chocolate coating as well.
