Whether you’re rooting for the New England Patriots or the Seattle Seahawks come Super Bowl Sunday (or just watching for the commercials and Katy Perry’s halftime performance), nothing makes a game day like great food and drinks to enjoy as you watch. But it doesn’t mean you have to abandon your New Year’s resolutions to lose weight or eat healthier. Try these tips for a delicious and guilt-free Super Bowl soiree.

Baked Buffalo wings
t Buffalo wings are a classic, but they don’t have to be deep fried and dripping in blue cheese dressing. Try baking them instead for all of the flavor and way less fat. Just marinate the wings first in a combination of hot sauce, vinegar and melted butter, then bake them in the oven at 425 degrees F for 45 minutes. Vegan and vegetarian guests can enjoy wings too: Gardein makes meat-free barbecue wings that taste just like the real thing.
Spinach artichoke dip
t Skip the queso and serve spinach artichoke dip instead. Chips and dip are traditional fare, but tortilla chips dipped in cheese can totally derail your diet. With spinach and artichoke dip, you still get that cheesy goodness but you’re getting veggies in every bite, too. Pair the dip with multi-grain baked pita chips for all the crunch without the grease. Other healthy dips to try include guacamole or hummus.
Cauliflower crust pizza
t Whip up pizzas with cauliflower crust. Did you know the white vegetable can be ground up in your food processor and substituted for a crunchy crust that’s low carb and gluten free? Check out the exact recipe here and add your favorite toppings.
Light beer
t Lighten up your beers. Instead of heavy lagers that will leave you bloated, offer light beers with less calories and carbs such as Corona Light, Bud Light or Michelob Ultra.
Skinny cocktails
t Serve a skinny cocktail. Mix up your own margaritas minus the sweet and sour mix and sugary simple syrup and make a lighter one with fresh juices. Combine 2 ounces of silver tequila, 1.5 ounces of freshly squeezed lime juice, 1 ounce of squeezed orange juice and 1 teaspoon of light agave, then shake and serve over ice. Add sliced jalapeno peppers if you like it spicy… they contain capsinoids, which may help you lose weight! We’ll cheer to that.
