I thought Creamsicle pops were the lamest of lame when it came to ice cream desserts as a kid. I mean, who wants fruit in their ice cream pop when there was fun, artificially colored, jumbo pops in the shape of rockets from the ice cream truck?
As an adult, though, the sweet orange and vanilla combination is one of my favorites. I dig it in baked goods, ice cream and even smoothies. It’s also a great one for winter when you’re longing for the taste of fresh fruit but don’t have much to work with.
Adding a simple cranberry sauce to this smoothie takes the classic combination to the next level. The sweetness from the oranges and vanilla gets balanced with the tart freshness of cranberries, and you’ll want to sip this all the way until spring.
