If you’re in London this Easter weekend, and want an alternative to the traditional roast lamb with all the trimmings, pop by the FryHard pop-up cafe in Shoreditch’s Boxpark in the East End and choose from a menu of deep-fried treats.
Yes, that’s right. Every single thing on the menu, from a pancake to a pickled egg, is completely immersed in hot fat before it’s served up. If you’re not sure about this, you could always start small: a deep-fried Babybel comes in at £2. Or really embrace the deep-fried experience and order a full Sunday roast. It is Easter after all.
Here’s the menu in full:
FryHard is the brainchild of Messhead, a collaboration between “edgy” creative director Emma Thomas and “culinary renegade” James Thomlinson (aka Miss Cakehead and London Mess), who like to do strange things to their food and don’t give a damn about calories.

The FryHard pop-up will only be open from April 2 to April 5 so — if your arteries can take it — don’t miss out on your chance to sample some truly unusual deep-fried delights. The health nuts of the East End will be choking on their kelp smoothies…
