Food hack: How to vacuum seal meat without a machine (VIDEO)

When it comes to kitchen gadgets, I’m a sucker. My cabinets are busting at the seams with contraptions that I have to admit I’ve never even used. Among the small appliances collecting dust is a vacuum sealer.

I used my vacuum sealer like crazy when I first got it. My freezer was stuffed to the gills with vacuum-sealed, bulk-bought meat. But the new car smell wore off, and eventually the machine got banished to the very top shelf of the cabinet, where I promptly forgot about it.

Since then, my freezer has become a bit of a wasteland of icy meat, and every once in a while, I go through the painful task of clearing it out on garbage day, feeling guilty about all the food I’m wasting because I’m too lazy to pull out the machine.

They say necessity is the mother of invention, and this hack proves there are enough lazy people out there when it comes to vacuum sealing food.

I’m far more likely to do this than I am to actually vacuum seal my meat. It’s really just one tiny step further than putting it in the freezer bag and lying on top of it, trying to squeeze out the air (which we all know never works).

Thanks to the lazy people who figured this one out. I knew if I waited long enough someone would come up with something.
