Everyone stay calm. I just saw Bigfoot… in a Bundt cake. That’s way better than some guy dressed up in a gorilla suit out in the forest any day.
Catch Bigfoot and all the other fun food news you missed this week — there’s a Chewbacca doughnut you’ve got to see. And be sure to check out what you missed last week. Would you eat french fries topped with cotton candy and Pop Rocks?
1. Burnt Cheez-Its are happening
Image: bowenmurphy/Flickr
Earlier this week, Cheez-Its “leaked” a top secret Vine of their new flavor. OK, they aren’t actually called burnt Cheez-Its… they’re “extra-toasty.” But as someone who has been known to put Cheez-Its in a pan and purposely burn them, I could not be happier about this news. Food & Wine has confirmed that this glorious new product will become a reality on May 18. If you need me that day, I’ll be knee-deep in a pile of overcooked crackers.
2. Chewbacca in doughnut form

Star Wars Day (May the fourth be with you, get it?) is just around the corner and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with the cutest darn Chewbacca doughnuts ever. Bonus: They’re actually super easy to make. As creator Jenn says, the most difficult part is not eating the doughnut. That’s a food craft I can get behind.
3. Just because

See, it’s a couch… made of potatoes. Genius.
4. A Bigfoot sighting
Image: Jenn Fujikawa/Nerdist
Jenn Fujikawa (yes, the same Jenn who made the Chewbacca doughnuts… she’s insanely talented, right?) just found Bigfoot — in a Bundt cake. This is probably the most excited I’ve ever been about a Bigfoot sighting, actually. Because it’s cake. And cake is great, even if there is a hairy beast inside of it.
5. Cheetos Popcorn might be a thing… someday
Buzzfeed’s Adam B. Vary got everyone all excited about Cheetos Popcorn coming to a movie theatre near you when he snapped this pic at CinemaCon. Unfortunately, we’re all going to have to wait a little longer as Frito-Lay’s Alexia Allina told Cinema Blend, “As a company, we’re always innovating and testing new product concepts to see what resonates best with our consumers. Cheetos Popcorn is still in the very early development stages.” For now, just shove a handful of Cheetos and a handful of popcorn into your mouth at the same time. Probably a pretty close second.
6. Dam curry rice!
You know how it’s impossible to have a plate of curry without the sauce getting everywhere? It runs into all the other food on your plate and cannot be contained. Until now. Enter the dam curry rice. This new trend in Japan keeps all that sauce where you want it, and also just looks really “dam” cool. (Sorry, I had to.)
7. Food mashup of the week
Image: Giramuk’s Kitchen
Admittedly, I am not one to mess with sushi. Call me boring, but I like my sushi standard. However, all that has changed with this sushi/burger mashup. These teriyaki flank steak sushi burgers? I’ll take two. And make sure one has a runny egg on top. (Go check out the image… it’s heavenly.)
8. Drool-worthy recipe of the week
Image: I Wash… You Dry
I don’t know about you, but I could stare at this mesmerizing melty cheese all day long. And the fact that this drool-worthy meat lover’s tortellini is a one-skillet recipe, has just six ingredients and is ready in 20 minutes is an obvious plus too. I need to stop ogling the cheese and go make this. Now.
