They just go together, summer and ice-cold drinks. When it’s hot, there’s nothing better than to sit down in the shade with a cocktail.
My choice of fruit right now is tamarind. It’s a sweet and sour fruit found in Asia and Africa that has already gained popularity across the globe because it’s so good and used frequently in cooking. In Asia, it is used as a souring agent in savory dishes and as candies when they are ripe and sweeter. Another way to enjoy it is by drinking it as juice, which is readily available in lots of stores. (You can also buy it online or make your own.)
With the heat in mind, here is a drink I made that’s so quick and easy that it takes less than five minutes to put together. I love the refreshing, sweet combination of tamarind and lemon in this super-simple cocktail.
