Is it just me, or is Taco Bell totally killing it when it comes to fast-food innovation?
First they had the Doritos Locos taco shell, and now this — the Naked Crispy Chicken Taco. It’s the answer to KFC’s much-maligned yet much-adored Double Down.
A crispy, white meat chicken shell holds your standard taco toppings — lettuce, tomatoes and shredded cheese — and is topped with a creamy avocado ranch sauce. I mean, who wouldn’t prefer fried chicken to one of the chain’s standard-issue, bland and mealy hard corn shells.

The Naked Crispy Chicken Taco was originally reported to Foodbeast by someone who purchased it in Lost Hills, California, but Taco Bell has since confirmed it’s being sold only in its restaurants in Bakersfield, California. It’s testing the item through Sept. 23, and then it’ll decide whether or not to expand.

Hopefully if fans keep making noise about how much they want to get their hands on one of these, the company will decide on a nationwide launch. Until then, all we can do is keep our fingers crossed.
