Starbucks announced today the national rollout of its Mobile Order & Pay at more than 7,400 Starbucks stores around the U.S.
The new feature allows customers to place their order ahead of time and pay so that they don’t have to wait in line when they get to the store. Instead, they can just go to the pickup area at the counter and receive their order there.
The move will help expedite the ordering process in store, which is definitely a good thing. If you think hanger is scary, just wait until you’ve been in an out-the-door line at Starbucks at 7 a.m. with dozens of people who haven’t had their coffee yet.

It will also be easier to order the drinks you want without shame. It’s a whole lot easier to tell your phone you want a venti caramel macchiato made with whole milk, extra whipped cream and a shot of hazelnut syrup than it is to tell a frowning barista while a bunch of coffee snobs wait in line behind you. Grande pumpkin spice Frappuccino with caramel drizzle at 7 a.m.? Yeah, it’s happening, and no bully cashiers can stop you.

To use Mobile Order & Pay, just download the free Starbucks app on your iPhone or Android. From there, you can look at a map and select the store you want to order from, view the menu, see when your order will be ready and pay. Mobile Order & Pay is also integrated with the My Starbucks Rewards loyalty program, making it easier than ever to earn Stars and redeem them for free drinks.
