At SheKnows Food, we spend a lot of time reading about — you guessed it — food (and drinks too!). And we’ve come across some stories that are too good to not share. Here are the food items from the week that you don’t want to miss.

1. The question isn’t why would you want a keyboard waffle iron, it’s why wouldn’t you?

2. Attention: There are bananas that taste like ice cream

Today in fruit news that makes us want to move to Hawaii: ice cream bananas (also known as blue java bananas). These magical bananas have hints of vanilla and are sweeter, fluffier and creamier than our usual boring bananas, giving them an ice cream-like resemblance. 3. Pancake selfies? Why not?

We’re a world obsessed with selfies, as proven by the selfie stick, the selfie spoon and now, pancake selfies. That’s right… your face on a hotcake. Holiday Inn Express is behind this latest selfie gimmick, and it’s rolling around in a food truck through September, putting your mug on flapjacks. Why the hell not? — Foodbeast

4. Of course someone made a Pope Francis pizza

Whether or not an event has anything to do with food, we can always find a way to make it about food. Proof: Bleecker Street Pizza in New York commemorated Pope Francis’ visit with his likeness on a pie. It took Chef Tony Salihaj three hours to complete this masterpiece, but we think it was well worth the time. Just look at that detail. — New York Post

5. How to make mac and cheese better

It might not seem possible to improve upon the classic pasta-cheese combo, but Chef Dom Tesoriero of Food Network Star fame does just that. His New York food truck, Mac Truck, specializes in everyone’s favorite comfort food, and his tips for over-the-top mac and cheese are worth reading. Ditch the blue box, and try some of these drool-worthy ideas. Even a quick breadcrumb treatment will give you an instant flavor boost. — PopSugar

6. New Starbucks flavor = new Starbucks menu hacks

Whenever Starbucks releases a new flavor, it presents the opportunity for new drink hacks. The latest Toasted Graham Latte opened up a whole new world of tasty concoctions, and Refinery29 has them all figured out. If the Pumpkin Spice Latte isn’t quite doing it for you, add a few pumps of Toasted Graham syrup, and suddenly you’re drinking a pumpkin pie.
