3 Easy holiday lollipops that make the sweetest edible gifts

From cookie dough to marshmallows to candy canes, these adorable holiday treats are the way to go for a fun and special gift.

Rudolph would be proud to see his likeness in these cute reindeer truffle lollipops. These aren’t just any lollipops — you’ll never guess what they’re made of.

They’re made of cookie dough! Only this cookie dough doesn’t have egg in it, so it can be eaten raw. And they make such sweet gifts. Just wrap them in a small piece of cellophane or use a cellophane gift bag, and then tie a ribbon around the bottom of the reindeer for an adorable gift.

It’s hard to resist taking a bite out of one of these reindeer.

Where would you start when taking a bite out of these yummies? I started with the ear, but you might want to start by eating the red nose. Go ahead, this reindeer won’t mind a bit.

Chocolate cookie dough truffle reindeer lollipop recipe

Yields 12

Prep time: 30 minutes | Inactive time: 20 minutes | Cook time: 3 minutes | Total time: 53 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1-1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 4 dashes salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 5 squares Almond Bark chocolate-flavored coating, melted
  • 30 mini twist pretzels
  • 30 candy eyeballs
  • 15 Red Hots (cinnamon imperial candies)
  • 15 lollipop sticks

Directions:

  1. To a large bowl, add the butter, flour, brown sugar, salt, vanilla extract, granulated sugar and milk.
  2. Stir together until a dough forms.
  3. Roll the dough into balls about the size of a golf ball.
  4. Chill the dough balls in the refrigerator until the dough becomes stiff (about 1 hour).
  5. Remove from the refrigerator, and gently put a lollipop stick into each dough ball.
  6. Dip a dough ball into the melted chocolate coating until completely covered.
  7. While holding on to the lollipop stick, very gently make a slight impression with the bottom tip of a pretzel to make a small “dent” where an antler would go on the top of the cookie dough ball.
  8. Dip just the bottom tip of the pretzel into the chocolate coating, and put it in the “dent” to make the antler. Repeat for the other antler.
  9. Set the cookie dough lollipop upright in a mug, small glass or in one of the holes in a wire rack (that has legs long enough so that the stick doesn’t touch the counter).
  10. Put a dab of chocolate coating on the back of each candy eye and on 1 side of the Red Hot candy, and attach to the reindeer.
  11. Repeat for the remaining cookie dough balls.
  12. Let cool in the refrigerator until the chocolate coating sets (about 20 minutes).
  13. Serve chilled.
  14. Store leftover truffles in the refrigerator.
