Dove holiday chocolates recalled thanks to Grinchy allergens

Mars Chocolate North America has announced a voluntary recall of one of its holiday products.

Dove Chocolate Assortment Snowflakes (24-ounce bags) are being recalled because of failure to disclose that the product may contain peanuts, wheat and/or eggs. Apparently the approximately 6,700 cases of the product that were shipped may accidentally contain pieces of Snickers, Milky Way or Twix bars, which contain those common allergens. A consumer alerted the company that they had found a piece of Snickers in their bag of chocolates, and the company then issued the recall.

The bags of the recalled chocolates are printed with the item #10139802 and UPC #400050521.

Luckily the chocolates were only sold at Walmart from Sept. 19 to Dec. 1, so the product isn’t too widespread. But if you live in Arizona, Georgia, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Ohio, Virginia, California, Iowa, Maryland, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Vermont, Colorado, Illinois, Maine, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington, Connecticut, Indiana, Michigan, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Delaware, Kansas, Minnesota, Nevada, Rhode Island, Wyoming, Florida, Kentucky, Missouri, New York or Texas and think you’ve purchased the recalled item and have allergy concerns, you should return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

The good news is that if you aren’t allergic to wheat, peanuts or eggs, the chocolates are still safe to enjoy. And hey, you might find a bonus piece of Snickers in your bag.
