Cashew lovers, beware: Trader Joe’s is recalling packages of its raw cashew pieces over salmonella concerns.
The Trader Joe’s raw cashews, a popular snack and vegan cooking staple, have a best before date of July 17, 2016. The product packaging displays the bar code number 00505154.

The recalled raw cashew pieces were sold at Trader Joe’s stores in 30 states, including: Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C. and Wisconsin.

Only one lot of raw cashew pieces is thought to have been contaminated, but the store is recalling all lots just to be extra careful. So far no illnesses have been reported as a result of the possible contamination.
If you have one of the recalled products, you should dispose of it or bring it to any Trader Joe’s store for a refund.
