So much for all those healthy eating resolutions we made in January. Dole is recalling its packaged salads after finding epidemiological and laboratory evidence linking the product to a listeria outbreak.
The outbreak has sickened 12 people in six states, including one person who died from listeriosis. The contaminated salads were traced back to a Dole Fresh Vegetables, Inc. production facility in Springfield, Ohio. The facility is suspending operations until it can control the source of the outbreak.

The packaged salad being recalled has a product code beginning with the letter “A” that is located in the top right-hand corner of the package. It’s being sold under a few different brand names, including Dole, Fresh Selections, Simple Truth, Marketside, The Little Salad Bar and President’s Choice Organics.
The packaged salad from the Ohio facility was sold in the U.S. and Canada, including these states and provinces: Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin, Ontario, New Brunswick and Quebec.

Dole is also working closely with retailers to ensure that the recalled products are removed from the supply chain and are not being sold to consumers. If you have any of the recalled product in your home, you should throw it away.
