Hershey’s Carrot Cake Kisses Are Controversial AF — but Are They That Bad?

by

SheKnows Editorial

Remember when people started spotting Hershey’s Carrot Cake Kisses on shelves and promptly proceeded to lose their shit? Yeah, that was a bit dramatic.

Carrot Cake Kisses are back at Walmart this year, and the reviews are in: These little golden gems are delish.

“These taste exactly like carrot cake! They are orange in color with a white center and I’m pretty sure it’s white chocolate because there isn’t a cocoa flavor or color to them. The only negative is putting a bag out they will vanish faster than the other candies so you should buy at least 2 of these or you might not get any lol,” wrote one reviewer on walmart.com, while another agreed, “These kisses are so good! They are sweet but the cream cheese with carrot flavor is so addictive.”

So what was with last year’s freak out?

News of the Easter-themed flavor was met by most SheKnows staffers last year with exclamations of “ew!” But personally, I’m all for it. Easter candy is so boring. There is no candy more disappointing than the hollow milk chocolate bunny; foil-wrapped eggs always have secret foil particles stuck to them, just waiting to destroy your teeth; and Cadbury Creme Eggs are available year-round now, so there’s really not much of a wow factor there anymore. And do. Not. Get me started on the culinary atrocity that is Peeps (#ShotsFired).

Besides, we’ve seen worse novelty Easter candy before:

  • Peeps Milk (please God, no)
  • Easter Grass Twizzlers (choking hazard?)
  • Candy Corn Chicks (waxy and lame)
  • Brach’s Chicks & Rabbits, aka Easter Circus Peanuts (truly an abomination)
  • Chocolate-covered cookie dough “bunny poop” (just embarrassing)
  • Black jelly beans (literally Satan’s favorite)

Long story short, I’m into it and will be picking up a bag of Carrot Cake Hershey’s Kisses as soon as I spy them at my local store. And to all of the carrot cake haters, enjoy your black jelly beans while I continue living the good life over on Team Carrot Cake.
