Behold, Starbucks bestows upon the people Pumpkin Spice Latte K-Cups

Starbucks is hitting supermarket shelves with a new line of K-Cup latte pods, but the one that has everyone talking is the release of a Pumpkin Spice Latte pod this fall.

Though the coffee chain will also be releasing caramel, mocha and vanilla latte K-Cups, plus a peppermint-mocha one for the holidays, as usual the one thing on everyone’s mind is Pumpkin Spice. Like, in these darkest days of spring, when Pumpkin Spice Latte season is still months away, it’s hard to imagine not running to the store to pick up a bunch of PSL pods as soon as they’ve hit store shelves.

But could they ever compare to the real thing? Will they get all frothy on top? Will I be able to smell the warming autumnal spices as I take each sip, protecting me from the chill outside?

Maybe not, but even so, they could be great for people who live somewhere (like my hometown) where there is no Starbucks. Similar to its bottled Pumpkin Spice Frappuccinos, the new K-Cups could be a way for people to get a taste of the famous fall beverage when they’d otherwise have to settle for a knockoff or — gasp! — plain coffee.

The K-Cups’ advantage is that it doesn’t come already brewed, so it really will taste like fresh hot coffee. Here’s hoping it doesn’t immediately sell out once it hits stores… I don’t even want to know how much money I’d be willing to shell out on eBay for a package of these babies.
