Gooey Milky Way brownies will rocket you to another galaxy

Let’s start by admitting that the Milky Way brownie is a packaged snack you can buy. But if you make it yourself, you can add more, bigger chunks of candy bar. Plus, you can eat the brownies, all hot and melty, right out of the oven. We’re going to show you how.

And the good news is that the candy bars aren’t just on the top.

They’re also inside the brownies.

I think the hardest part about making these brownies is waiting for them to cool before eating them.

They smell so amazingly great when coming out of the oven too.

I especially like how the middle of the brownie is soft and fudgy.

Oh, and the caramel topping with chunky mounds of Milky Way candy bars may just be the best part.

Directions:

  1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Grease the bottom and sides of a square, 8-inch metal pan with butter.
  3. Lay a large piece of parchment paper in the pan so that it sticks to the butter, with about 2 inches of paper hanging off the sides of the pan.
  4. Grease the parchment paper that’s inside the pan with butter. Set aside.
  5. To a large mixing bowl, add the butter, sugar and eggs. Beat on high with a mixer until creamy.
  6. Add the milk, melted chocolate (make sure the melted chocolate has cooled a bit so it’s not hot when added to the mixture), baking powder and salt. Beat on medium speed until incorporated.
  7. Using a large spatula, mix the flour into the mixture until incorporated.
  8. Pour 1/2 the batter into the parchment paper-lined baking pan.
  9. Lay 9 snack-size Milky Way candy bars in 3 rows equidistant from one another in the batter.
  10. Top with the remaining batter, which should completely cover the candy bars.
  11. Bake for 25 minutes.
  12. Remove from the oven, and let cool completely.
  13. Lift the brownies out of the pan by using the parchment paper hanging off the sides.
  14. Cut the brownies into serving sizes, and place them on parchment paper.
  15. To a small bowl, add about 10 unwrapped caramels, and slightly melt them in the microwave (about 30 seconds). Stir the caramel so that it melts further.
  16. Drizzle caramel on top of a brownie, and then top with chunks of Milky Way candy bars (so that the chunks of candy bar will stick to the caramel before it hardens).
  17. Repeat the process by melting and remelting the caramel in small batches.
  18. If caramel is dripping off the sides of the brownies, it’s best to serve them on small pieces of parchment paper so the caramel doesn’t stick to the plate.
