Getting ready for the first cookout of summer? Then you need to be on high alert. GNP Company is recalling 55,608 pounds of chicken (a total of 18 different products) over fears that it might be contaminated with foreign matter. The affected brands include Gold’n Plump and Just Bare and are sold at Target and other retailers.

The chicken was produced between June 6 and June 9 and shipped for food service and retail distribution across the country. It bears the establishment number P-322 inside the USDA mark of inspection, so keep an eye out when you are shopping for poultry.
Luckily the foreign matter is more yuck than yikes. Sand and black soil were found in some of the products, and the company still doesn’t know when or how it entered its supply chain. But at least it’s not broken glass or metal fragments or something, which we’ve seen before.

Another day, another recall. At this point you know the drill, but if you think you’ve consumed the recalled product and notice any injury or adverse reaction, contact your physician.
