You may want to pass up the frozen peas on your next grocery shopping trip. Frozen food retailer National Frozen Foods Corporation has issued a voluntary recall of not-ready-to-eat frozen green peas and frozen mixed vegetables. The products are being pulled off the shelves because of a potential contamination with listeria monocytogenes. No illnesses have been linked to the recalled veggies.

NFFC provides frozen foods for several well-known grocery store brands. The brands affected by the recall include Great Value, First Street, Bountiful Harvest, LiveSmart, Market Pantry and Sprouts Farmers Market, and are sold at retailers that include Target, Walmart and Smart & Final. The tainted veggies were distributed from Sept. 2, 2015 to June 2, 2016. Be sure to check the NFFC website for a full list of the frozen food products recalled.
No need to panic if you find a bag of the contaminated vegetables in your freezer. Just be sure to not eat it! You can return the product to the store where you bought it to get a full refund. If you’re getting a bit of déjà vu, that’s because this is actually the second huge recall of frozen veggies in the past two months. CRF Frozen Foods also voluntarily recalled frozen foods sold between September 2015 and March 2016. The NFFC recall is not related to the CRF Frozen Foods recall. Still, it’s a creepy coincidence, right?
