We’ve all been warned about the raw eggs in cookie dough, but guess what! We’ve been eating it anyway. Well, how dangerously are we willing to live for the sweet, sweet taste of butter-creamed sugar mixed with chocolate chips? Because now the FDA says raw cookie dough is too dangerous to eat because of the flour.

You remember the massive flour recall thanks to our friend E. coli? That is probably what’s behind the advisory the FDA just issued about eating raw cookie dough. “Flour,” they say, “regardless of the brand, can contain bacteria that cause disease.”
“But I thought they’d cleaned up after that flour recall, and now it’s all OK!” you protest. Oh, but it could happen again. This is the new danger, my friends. The Great Flour Threat. So severe is it, the FDA doesn’t even want you making your own play dough for fear that your little ones will lick their dough-covered hands.

So that’s fun, right? Goodbye, youthful innocence filled with homemade play dough and licking the spoon out of the mixing bowl. Guess it’s back to hitting the cookie butter. They can’t take that away from us. Yet.
