Lucky Charms Debuts Marshmallow-Only Boxes

If your childhood was like that of the average American kid’s, you might remember successfully conning your mom, every once in awhile, into buying the fun box of Lucky Charms instead of the boring box of Cheerios. Then you probably proceeded to pick out the best part — the marshmallows, obviously.

Because we’re all still kids at heart (at least on our darkest days) General Mills is giving away 10,000 boxes of marshmallow-only Lucky Charms. There are no oats to get in the way — just sugar-laden, bizarrely crunchy, unnaturally colored marshmallows. What a time to be alive.

Of course, this sweet promotion is not without controversy. Ad Week points out a sour truth. At a time when cereal sales are declining because people are worried about the sugar content in a normal box of cereal, will promoting an extra-super-sweet box really work? That remains to be seen.

The catch: You have to buy a box of normal Lucky Charms (of course) to get a code for the free box of the marshmallow ones, and this promotion is only available while supplies last. So if you do want that sugar fix, you’d better get moving fast.
