If tuna poke is at the top of your summer snack list, you’re going to want to pay close attention to where your fish comes from. The FDA issued a recall warning for frozen tuna from Hilo Fish. According to the report, the Hawaii Department of Health discovered hepatitis A in frozen samples in early May. Hepatitis A is a very dangerous, contagious virus.

The good news is that no one reported getting sick from the tuna — yet. But the CDC is taking no chances and advises anyone who has not had a hepatitis A vaccine and has been to Texas, California or Oklahoma — states where the fish is distributed — to get post-exposure treatment if they have recently had raw or undercooked tuna. You can never be too careful.

The recalled products include frozen yellowfin tuna steaks from Sustainable Seafood Company, yellowfin tuna cubes from Santa Cruz Seafood, 8-ounce tuna steaks from Hilo Fish Company with an expiration date of Oct. 1, 2018, and 15-pound frozen yellowfin tuna cubes with an expiration date of April 4, 2019.
The FDA warning also includes a list of restaurants that have bought the recalled fish. Tuna lovers, be careful out there!
