We’re busy. Sometimes we’re so busy with work and our families and relationships that basic chores like shopping get pushed to the back burner. Eventually, we have to make the time to buy that milk and bread, though, right?
Well, maybe not. Walmart is testing a new idea that is both brilliant and kind of scary. They are one-upping the grocery-delivery concept by bringing your order beyond your front door and into your home, and even placing it in your fridge for you.

Walmart recently announced this new idea, which they are currently testing in Silicon Valley. How it works: You place an order on Walmart.com, then the items are packed and handed off to a driver, who will then will deliver it to your home. If you don’t happen to be home to receive it, the driver will then use a one-time passcode to enter your house and place your delivery in your fridge. The customer receives an instant notification and even has the option to watch the delivery happen in real time over cameras. You can make sure that milk is put away correctly!
Not much different than the milkman coming in your house and putting milk in the fridge, we had that during the 1950’s, but not Walmart.

Sure, it’s great if you have a lot on your to-do list, but the concept of having strangers in your home is pretty scary. And there’s a lot of trust on the line there: What else will they be doing while in your home to drop off those groceries? The ability to watch the delivery on camera helps, but I don’t think I’ll be subscribing to this delivery service anytime soon.
