How to Score a Free Starbucks Drink This Week

Starbucks wants to get you into a festive frame of mind with its Give Good Share Event. Yes, we know it’s only early November, but there’s coffee involved, so we’re not complaining. From Nov. 9 to 13, Starbucks addicts — er, customers — can get a double fix of caffeinated holiday elixir. Buy one excellently foofy holiday drink, and get one free. That’s one to share with your work spouse, your real spouse, your UPS guy, your BFF or the random hottie standing behind you in line at the ATM. Or feel free to be a Scrooge and slug down two holiday drinks — we won’t judge.

The fine print: The deal’s only in force between 2 and 5 p.m. this coming week, so set your watch for this afternoon pick-me-up. And forget your usual, deeply boring sugar-free latte: This offer applies to holiday drinks, so you know what that means. We’re talking the Cadillacs of coffee: peppermint mochas, gingerbread lattes, eggnog lattes, holiday spice flat whites, caramel brûlée lattes, chestnut praline lattes, and Teavana Joy tea. The free second drink must be of equal or lesser value to whatever extravaganza-in-a-cup you order first, just so you know.

And if that wasn’t exciting enough, Starbucks will even throw in a yummy cake pop (because there’s not enough sugar in a caramel brûlée latte) if you don’t want two liquid holiday confections. Sweet!

The coffee company even got the perennially glam Gwen Stefani in on the event. Her new single, “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” (fresh off her holiday album) is featured in the Starbucks promo video. Want to guess who’s singing backup? Yep, that would be Stefani’s boyfriend and The Voice costar, country superstar Blake Shelton. Awwww.

As usual, Starbucks has thought of everything as the holidays approach. Well, maybe next time they could kick in a free gym membership so we could sweat all the extra caffeine, peppermint and whipped cream out of our systems.
