McDonald’s Knows We Love Caramel So Much, They Debuted New Turtle Drinks

There are three kinds of people in the world: those who punch in their coffee order on the Starbucks app and pick up their drink on their way to work, those who hit the Dunkin’ Donuts drive-thru and boldly order an early morning doughnut for b-fast and, finally, the McCafé peeps. I’d argue most of us are all about the ‘bux life, but after hearing about the new coffee additions to the McDonald’s menu, we might have to make a temporary switch.

Last September, McDonald’s amped up its McCafé menu with the addition of its caramel macchiato, cappuccino and Americano drinks. And as of yesterday, McDonald’s debuted new seasonal turtle coffee drinks — all of which sound downright delicious with their blend of chocolate, caramel and hazelnut flavors. But you better get ’em while you can because they’re only on menus for a limited time starting in early April.

“Over the last year, McCafé has broken new ground with a series of exciting changes and it’s only just begun,” says Elina Veksler, senior director of McCafé menu innovation, in a statement on the company’s website. “Our Turtle coffee beverages are a new take on an indulgent treat. […] These beverages are skillfully made by restaurant crew for just the right balance of flavors, ensuring our customers receive a café-quality beverage every time.”

First, we have the turtle macchiato, which you can get hot or iced. It’s layered with creamy milk and bold espresso and topped with a sweet chocolate drizzle. Then — and this one’s a personal favorite — the iced turtle coffee with a blend of chocolate, caramel and hazelnut topped off with a dash of rich cream.

The drinks start at just $2, and as always, you can get your drink of choice delivered with McDelivery on Uber Eats. It’s almost as if McDonald’s gets us.

McDonald’s will continue serving its coffee drinks in its newly designed Forest Stewardship Council-certified hot cups as part of McDonald’s continued efforts to source 100 percent of its fiber-based packaging from certified or recycled sources by 2020.

Is it April yet?
