When I think of fast-food restaurants, I don’t necessarily think of family dinner. Usually, quick meals on stressful days and fries scarfed down after a trip through the drive-thru are my experiences. But Chick-fil-A wants to change all that.
At several Atlanta Chick-fil-A locations, customers will be able to order mealtime kits to bring home and cook for dinner. The kits all feature the chain’s marinated chicken and feed two people for $15.89.

Meals will be offered on a rotating schedule, and recipes on the menu will include chicken Parmesan, chicken flatbread, chicken enchiladas, pan-roasted chicken and Dijon chicken. Pick up a kit at the drive-thru (no reservation or preordering necessary), bring it home, follow the recipe card, and expect to be eating in about a half-hour.
The move seems strange coming from Chick-fil-A, a chain known for its austerity. Unlike Taco Bell, Burger King and McDonald’s, which are constantly churning out new items, Chick-fil-A takes pride in sticking to the basics. This is certainly a departure, but considering how obsessed everyone seems to be with hopping on the meal kit train, I guess it was only a matter of time before fast-food companies started trying to hack their way into the industry.
