Chipotle’s Menu Update Caters to Your Trendy Whole30, Paleo or Keto Diet

Chipotle is known for its simple, pared-down menu (remember how we all lost it when they added sofritas to their lineup?), but in 2019, they’re taking a risk by introducing a new menu of Lifestyle Bowls to their restaurants.

Piggybacking on the latest dietary trends, Chipotle’s Lifestyle Bowls include:

  • Whole30 salad bowl: romaine lettuce, carnitas, fajita veggies, tomato salsa and guacamole
  • Paleo salad bowl: romaine lettuce, barbacoa, fajita veggies, green salsa and guacamole
  • Keto salad bowl: romaine lettuce, carnitas, red salsa, cheese and guacamole
  • Double protein bowl: white rice, black beans, chicken, steak, red salsa, romaine lettuce and sour cream

We’d love to see a carefully created vegan or vegetarian option in there too, but I guess it doesn’t take a brain scientist to add a scoop of sofritas to a bean and rice burrito.

Chipotle has always been one of the healthier fast-food options out there, but this is the first time they’ve created dishes based on trendy diets and nutrition fads. According to Chipotle, the reason for adding the bowls is that “now more than ever, Americans are embracing new and varied approaches to healthy living and wellness,” and judging by all the new diets we read about on a seemingly daily basis, it seems like as good a time as any to jump on the wellness bandwagon. So much for that queso adventure they went on in 2017.

For now, the new Lifestyle Bowls can be ordered exclusively through the Chipotle app or the Chipotle website and can be picked up in-restaurant or delivered right to your door. Nothing says healthy like ordering delivery Chipotle at 11 a.m. so you don’t have to stop binge-watching Marie Kondo’s new Netflix show in the fuzzy adult onesie you got for Christmas and now live in. Not that I speak from experience or anything.
