What would you do if you found a frozen McDonald’s Big Mac mysteriously land from space in a polystyrene box with a parachute attached to it and a GoPro stuffed inside that box? You’d tweet it, of course — which is exactly what the England-based soccer club, Colchester United Football Club, did recently.
On Thursday, March 28, the soccer team tweeted about the boggling Mickey D’s burger discovery. A few tweets in, they revealed that shortly after finding the burger, their phone rang and the man on the other end of the line revealed he had purposely sent the burger to space, documented its journey with the GoPro and was able to locate the burger using the GPS tracking device attached to the box.
But there was no card inside, so we didn't really know what to do. Honestly, what DO you do with a frozen burger?

The man who called was YouTube star Tom Stanniland, who goes by Killem. You’ve might’ve seen his videos before, like “I Mailed Myself in a Box” or “I crossed Countries by Sea in a Zorb Ball…” Anyway, his mission was to to find out if the McDonald’s burger tastes differently after having traveled into space.
So, how did the Big Mac taste?
Shortly after Stanniland ate the burger at Colchester United FC training ground, he published a video titled “I Sent a McDonald’s Big Mac to Space & Ate It,” wherein he details how far it traveled, how he made the contraption and more.
“Alright, so I sent a burger into space using a weather balloon,” he says in the video. “It had gone about 24 miles up. The weather balloon popped, it’s come back down over 100 miles, and it’s landed right here.”
Further into the video, though, his friend asks if the Big Mac was “out of this world,” to which Stanniland responds, “It’s not nice… It’s drying out my mouth.”
“I’ve eaten a burger from space,” Stanniland adds. “The end.”
