Hannah Bronfman is a woman of many talents. She’s a DJ, health and beauty fanatic, entrepreneur and general badass woman. As one of the leading ladies of the #fitspo movement on IG, Bronfman saw an opportunity to turn her passion (and her popular Instagram account) into a profitable business so she founded HBFIT in 2014. HBFIT is a health, beauty and fitness site where you can find everything from a new workout routine to delicious recipes and it has become the go-to destination for anyone seeking a healthier and happier lifestyle. Bronfman, who spoke at SHE Media’s #BlogHer Creators Summit conference in Brooklyn in September, recently chatted with us about all things food and she even let us take a peek inside her fridge.
SheKnows: Tell us a little bit about what’s in your fridge.
Hannah Bronfman: I love a stacked fridge. It gives me so much joy. I have a ton of fresh veggies and I try to roast them weekly so I have lots of cooked veg on hand. I don’t really eat a lot of grains but I keep a lot of lettuces on hand. There’s a brand of cottage cheese that I love called Nancy’s Organic and it’s a probiotic which I love. I always have some coconut yogurt in the fridge, Right now I’m really into this brand called Cocojune. I’m obsessed with the Haven’s Kitchen sauces and they’re great because if you have the roasted beg, you can just put the chimichurri on one night and miso another night. I also always have tahini and coconut amino acids on hand. Oh and multiple types of butter which is insane but I love using ghee!
SK: You’re a DJ and entrepreneur which keeps you extremely busy and traveling a lot. Do you have a favorite plane-friendly snack?
HB: Oh yeah. I usually bring a Sweet Green salad with me to the airport. I’ll also bring some granola or mushroom jerky or coconut jerky with me to eat on the plane. A nut mix with goji berries is good too.
SK: What would you consider the ultimate comfort food?
HB: Thanksgiving dinner — a good stuffing, turkey, gravy, sweet potatoes and pie. I love Thanksgiving so much because you’re surrounded by great food and great company and what’s comfort food without great company? They go hand-in-hand.

SK: What’s the one ingredient you hate to work with or encounter in someone else’s dish?
HB: I pride myself on not being a picky eater. The one meat I have a hard time with is lamb — it’s the one dish I’m not a big fan of. Like a mint jelly and lamb dish does not get me jazzed. I did have amazing lamb kefta in Israel but I guess I’m not a lamb chop girl.
SK: Pumpkin spice: yay or nay?
HB: LOVE. My birthday is in October so I’m a total fall girl. I was actually just looking at a recipe for apple cider doughnuts that are paleo!
SK: What is your favorite pre and post-workout snack?
HB: I’m one of those people who likes to work out on an empty stomach. So, let’s say I’m working out mid-morning and I want a little something before the gym I’ll grab a coconut yogurt or something that doesn’t make me feel too heavy to run. Post-workout, I try to do hard-boiled eggs or some kind of protein or, if it’s still sometime in the morning, I love a chocolate protein shake.

SK: What’s the strangest thing you have ever eaten?
HB: A fish heart in Japan.
SK: Would you eat it again?
HB: No. It’s not that I didn’t like it, the sight of it just freaked me out because it looked like it was still beating.
SK: What was your most memorable meal?
HB: It’s kind of hard to answer but my mind goes back to our trip to Israel. There were three meals that really stand out to me: one was in Jerusalem and I had this seafood boil that was one of the most messy, delicious and enjoyable meals of my life. Then I went to a place in Tel Aviv called Abraxas North and I had the most life-changing cauliflower. The third meal was a salad that I literally think about all the time. It sounds so weird but it was so good! It was cherries, garlic and parsley. It was from a street market in Tel Aviv and it was the best thing I have actually ever had in my life.
