Pasta heads know how easy it could be to eat pasta every night. Thanks to the variety of different sauces, toppings, and of course, cheese, you could go weeks without eating the same pasta dish twice. However, the main issue with this meal plan is the amount of carbs you’d be consuming at dinner each night — pasta isn’t the healthiest thing you can eat, after all. But…there are always zoodles, and as Jennifer Garner proves, they may actually make it possible for you to eat pasta every night without any guilt.
“I’ve heard about zoodles. I’ve read about zoodles. People have talked about zoodles,” Garner said in her latest episode of Pretend Cooking Show on Instagram. “I haven’t had a lot of faith, and I want to try them.”
To put zoodles to the test, Garner first started by making a killer three-ingredient tomato sauce from Marcella Hazan, which is basically just canned tomatoes, onion, and butter.
Then, while the sauce simmered, Garner got to work on her zoodles using her spiralizer KitchenAid attachment, but you can use a handheld spiralizer, too.
Once the zoodles were made, Garner sauteed them in oil with a bit of garlic, salt, rosemary, thyme, and a bit of butter until they became soft — “You’re delicious,” she told her zoodles. “Don’t change!”
And before serving, Garner did a little extra something special and whipped up some ricotta to dollop on top of her finished dish. She then piled some zoodles into a bowl, ladled a helping of sauce on top, topped with ricotta, and gave her zoodles a try.
“My first zoodle experience…” she said before diving in. After her bite, Garner asked, “You mean we can just have pasta but it’s zucchini? Where has this spiralizer been all my life?”
She gave a final “Shazam, that’s good,” and we’re sold. Zoodles may be the secret to eating pasta every day. And someone in the comments said that you can spiralize spaghetti squash, too, which is even more similar to the real thing (hence its name).
So if you haven’t yet tried zoodles, now is the time! Pick up a spiralizer attachment or a handheld spiralizer and get your zoodle on.
