When guests arrive at the party on game day, you can usually expect a few returning stars: seven-layer dip, chicken wings, nachos, bite-sized meatballs, etc. But if you’re tired of the same old and want to make something new for your Super Bowl party, you need to check out Kardea Brown’s Chili Deviled Eggs. They combine two delicious game-day flavors in one single bite, and you might want to double the recipe because they’re going to go faster than you can yell touchdown!
To make Brown’s deviled eggs, start by hard boiling at least a dozen eggs. When cool, halve the eggs, remove the yolks, and set the whites aside in a deviled egg tray. Smash the yolks with a fork and then add in mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, sour cream, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and a bit of relish for some southern comfort.
“Recipes are great, but you also have to put a little of your personality into each dish,” Brown said in the below clip from her Food Network show Delicious Miss Brown. “If you like mayo, go hard on the mayo. You like mustard? Go hard on the mustard.”
When your yolk mixture is mixed thoroughly, place it into a plastic bag to prepare it for piping into your egg white halves. Snip a corner of the bag and squeeze a dollop of filling into each egg half.
You could leave the recipe here and still be a hit at the Super Bowl party. But Brown goes the extra mile and tops her Chili Deviled Eggs with crushed corn chips (she likes to use Fritos for this, but you can choose a cracker that best speaks to you), chopped parsley, shredded cheddar cheese, and just a bit more chili powder.
“It’s providing crunch, it’s providing flavor, and color,” Brown said.
