What’s the one thing you miss most about the warmer weather? Being outside? Gardening? Cuddling up by the fire pit at the end of the night making s’mores? You may have to wait until spring to hit the great outdoors again, but you can bring the beauty of s’mores inside with Martha Stewart‘s delicious s’mores bars recipe.
“Enjoy all the toasty feels of s’mores, no campfire required,” a caption on Stewart’s official Instagram reads. “To make these s’mores bars, we cooked the marshmallows under the broiler for a minute to get them nice and charred, then stirred graham crackers and chopped chocolate in with puffed-rice cereal.”
These bars can be cut into squares once assembled and cooled, or get creative with a cookie cutter and make them Valentine’s Day-appropriate.
After broiling your mini marshmallows until perfectly charred, you’re going to transfer them over to a saucepan with melted butter at the bottom. Keeping at medium heat, to this mixture, add your rice cereal, graham cracker crumbs, and a pinch of salt. Then, allow the mixture to cool for about a minute before you stir in your chocolate chunks. Stewart uses chopped semi-sweet chocolate, but you can pick your favorite candy bar or use chocolate chips.
Press this batter into a buttered baking dish lined with a bit of parchment paper and let the s’mores mix cool completely. Then, lift the mixture out of the pan using the parchment paper as handles and cut it into bars (or other shapes using a cookie cutter). Finally, you’re ready to eat!
Each bite will taste like summer nights spent around the campfire. Grab the full recipe on Martha’s website and get ready to add some warm weather goodness to your winter menu.
