If you think we’ve progressed at all in terms of gender equity in our society, shopping for baby and toddler clothes may come as a shock. For some reason, many mainstream retailers assume we want to dress our girls in nothing but pink frills and our boys want only dinosaurs, trucks and sports — and if you want to break gender norms, you may find yourself shopping for stuff in the opposite gender section, spending more money than you want, or dressing your kid in nothing but gray, white and yellow. Which is why, during this Women’s History Month, we’re inviting everyone to buy these fierce, witty feminist onesies for every baby girl and boy they know.
Will dressing tiny tots in homages to Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Kamala Harris mean all moms will magically earn equal pay while also getting year of paid family leave? Alas, it will not. But those “I’m Speaking” onesies do still show the world your girl won’t be taught to stay silent while a man talks over her. And putting your little boy in a “Feminist Like Dad” shirt is so much cuter than those onesies that mock babies as “Boob Man.” As those Virginia Slims ads used to say, we’ve come a long way, baby. (Remember when smoking was a feminist thing? LOL.)
Sadly, as we searched for the best of these feminist bodysuits for babes, there weren’t many to be found from name brand clothing companies. Instead, these are mostly the work of individual Etsy makers and small vendors on Amazon. But this too is where you come in, dear parent readers. Buy up the feminist wardrobes for your littles now, and as the weather warms up, parade your equality-minded babes around town. Create the demand for more feminist baby gear, simply by having a cute kid, and maybe, just maybe, Big Baby Brands will follow.

If There’s an Afterlife, Well…
We’d very much like to believe that RBG is living on and happily helping along a new generation of feminist warriors.
This Generation Will Know Better
We never want to hear “boys will be boys” uttered again in our presence, except in reference to this shirt.
Small But Mighty
This tiny refers not to physical size, but the commitment of its bearer to the cause.
Elizabeth Warren Homage
It’s a good thing this message comes in multiple colors, because it just can’t be said enough.
In Honor of Madame VP
Let’s make that former VP fade in our memories and only recall that Kamala Harris once shared the debate stage with a house fly.
Dads Welcome
These words speak volumes for girls, boys, nonbinary kids, and their awesome fathers.
Believe All the Things
Adding other messages of social justice to the “women’s rights are human rights” phrase only strengthen the purpose of feminism.
A Good ’70s Vibe
Not only is this shirt a great not to our women’s lib foremothers, but it’s a very cute pun on babies’ strong lungs.
A Flowery Statement
Feminism doesn’t mean we don’t revel in pretty things.
Faces of Feminism
If you can’t recognize all of these icons by their portraits, it’s time to get reading, moms and dads!
Puns for a Cause
If ever there’s a time to be corny, it’s when adorning our children with a shirt that raises funds for Planned Parenthood while letting the powers that be know what’s coming for them.
Shakespeare’s Sister
OK, English majors and theater geeks, name that play…
The Feminist Alphabet Begins Here
Why not educate your littles about great poetry from the start too?
