Cool and refreshing beer cocktails

Summer means sipping on light beers and delicious frozen cocktails, why not try combining the two with thirst-quenching beer cocktails. They are cold and refreshing on a hot afternoon and will quench your thirst better than a few regular beers. Be creative and try mixing one of the many craft brews with your favorite cocktail.

Beer Cocktail Recipes

Orangutang

Makes 1 serving

This may sound like a morning hangover remedy more than a superb summer libation, but it hits the spot on a sweltering evening after a hot day at the beach or park. For a simple syrup recipe (and more sensational summer drinks), read Summer cocktail recipes with tequila.

Ingredients:
1 bottle of light beer
1/4 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons simple syrup
Couple drops of grenadine
One slice of orange or raspberry for garnish

Directions:
Combine beer, orange juice, and simple syrup in a shaker. Pour mixture over ice in a pint glass. Top off with a few drops of grenadine. Garnish with a piece of fruit.

Ultimate Craft Brew Margarita

Makes 12 servings

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups tequila
1/2 cup Grand Marnier
1/3 bottle your favorite craft brew
1 can frozen lemonade concentrate
Juice from 1 lemon
Juice from 1 lime
Sugar to taste
Ice
Salt, to rim the glass

Directions:
Blend all ingredients except salt in a blender until smooth. Dip margarita glasses in water then in salt and fill glasses with mixture.

Note: This can also be made on the rocks, blend all ingredients except ice, pour mixture over ice in a large pitcher.

Spiked Lemonade

Makes 1 drink

Ingredients:
Ice
1 cup fresh lemonade, plus 1 splash
1 bottle light beer
1 1/2 ounces vodka
Lemon slice for garnish

Directions:
Combine ice and lemonade in a pint glass. Slowly pour beer into glass. Add vodka and top it off with a splash of lemonade. Stir together. Garnish with a lemon slice.
