Fried Wontons with Sweet and Sour Sauce

Makes 8 servings

Ingredients:
Oil for frying
1 package of wonton wrappers
2 egg whites, lightly whisked
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup pineapple juice
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1/4 cup water

Directions:
1. Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350 degrees F. Lay wontons in a single layer on a baking sheet and brush with egg white. Form wonton wrappers into different shapes. Fry wonton wrappers in oil until golden and crispy. Lay on paper towels to drain.

2. To make sweet and sour sauce, combine cornstarch, sugar, vinegar, pineapple juice, soy sauce and water in a small pot and bring to a boil. Continue simmering for 5 minutes or until thickened. Serve fried wontons with a side of sweet and sour sauce.
