Slow Cooker Short Ribs
Makes 6 servings
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2-1/2 pounds boneless beef short ribs
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup low sodium beef broth
- 3/4 cup red wine vinegar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup chili sauce
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
Directions:
- Combine flour, salt, pepper and ribs in a large resealable plastic bag. Shake well to coat ribs. Remove ribs and shake off any excess flour. Melt butter in a skillet and brown ribs in butter. Remove ribs and place them in a slow cooker.
- In the same skillet, add onion, broth, vinegar, brown sugar, chili sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, and chili powder and bring to a boil stirring occasionally and scraping bottom of the pan to remove any browned bits.
- When mixture has come to a boil pour it over the ribs in the slow cooker. Place lid on pot and cook on low setting for 9 hours or high setting for 3 to 4 hours.
