Summer crab recipes
Simple Sautéed Crabs
Makes 3 to 4 servings
Ingredients:
1 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
1 teaspoon salt
6 cloves garlic, sliced
1/4 cup butter
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1/4 cup wine vinegar
1 teaspoon pepper
12 live whole crabs, washed and cleaned
Directions:
1. Combine oil, poultry seasoning, salt, garlic, butter, garlic powder, vinegar and pepper in a large pot.
2. Place crabs in the pot and gently stir just to coat crabs. Cover pot and heat over medium-high heat. Stir crabs a few times and cook for 10 to 15 minutes or until crabs turn red.
3. Serve crabs with sauce poured over and a side of crusty bread for dipping.
Steamed Crabs
Makes 3 to 4 servings
Ingredients:
12 live whole crabs, washed and cleaned
Melted butter
Directions:
1. Fill a large pot with 2 inches of water, add a steamer rack to the pot, and bring to a boil.
2. Place crabs in the pot and cover with a lid. Cook 6 to 8 minutes or until crabs are red. Serve with melted butter.
Grilled Crabs
Makes 3 to 4 servings
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
2-1/2 tablespoons garlic powder
2-1/2 tablespoons salt
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
12 live whole crabs, washed and cleaned
Directions:
1. Heat a grill to medium-high heat. Combine butter, garlic powder, salt and Worcestershire sauce in a small pot and stir until butter is melted.
2. Wrap crabs in aluminum foil and place on hot grill. Unwrap crabs a little and brush with the butter sauce. Wrap up again and cook, flipping once for 15 to 20 minutes or until crabs are red. Serve with additional butter sauce.
