Tips for making iced tea

Raspberry Iced Tea

Makes 12 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 quarts boiling water
  • 10 to 12 black tea bags
  • 3 cups raspberry flavored syrup
  • Granulated sugar, to taste
  • 4 cups cold water
  • Fresh raspberries for garnish

Directions

  1. Pour boiling water over tea bags and let steep for at least 1 hour. Take tea bags out of tea.
  2. Pour syrup into tea and stir well. Taste to determine if more sugar is needed. If it is, stir in sugar 1 teaspoon at a time until desired sweetness is reached.
  3. Pour 4 cups of cold water into tea then chill for at least 1 hour. Serve with chilled raspberries.

Basil Mint Tea

Makes 12 servings

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups mint leaves plus more for garnish
  • 1-1/2 cups basil leaves plus more for garnish
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar plus more to taste
  • 6 quarts water
  • 10 to 12 black tea bags
  • 4 cups cold water

Directions

  1. Combine mint, basil, sugar and 2 quarts of water in a pot. Bring mixture to a boil and stir until a syrup is made. Strain mixture and reserve.
  2. Pour 2 quarts of boiling water over tea bags and let steep for at least 1 hour. Take tea bags out of tea. Pour syrup into tea and stir well. Taste to determine if more sugar is needed. If it is, stir in sugar 1 teaspoon at a time until desired sweetness is reached.
  3. Pour 4 cups of cold water into tea then chill for at least 1 hour. Serve with mint and basil leaves as garnish.

Iced Peach Tea

Makes 12 servings

Ingredients

  • 4 quarts boiling water
  • 10 to 12 black tea bags
  • 1 (15-ounce) can cling peaches in juice
  • Granulated sugar, to taste
  • 4 cups cold water

Directions

  1. Pour boiling water over tea bags and let steep for at least 1 hour. Take tea bags out of tea.
  2. Pour juice from peaches into tea and stir well. Taste to determine if more sugar is needed. If it is, stir in sugar 1 teaspoon at a time until desired sweetness is reached.
  3. Pour 4 cups of cold water into tea then chill for at least 1 hour. Serve with fresh peach slices.
