Anti-Valentine’s Day Party Recipes

Garlic Knots

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients:

1 (11-ounce) package refrigerated breadstick dough

1 tablespoon butter, melted

2 teaspoons garlic powder

1 tablespoon rosemary

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

2. Shape dough into 12 knots and place them on a baking sheet. Brush butter on the dough and sprinkle with garlic powder and rosemary.

3. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden.

Blue Cheese and Garlic Dip

Makes 4 to 6 servings

Serve this creamy bold flavored dip with crackers, chips and cut vegetables, or spread it on tasty little party toasts.

Ingredients:

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup half and half

5 slices cooked bacon, crumbled

6 ounces crumbled blue cheese

2 tablespoon chopped chives

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2. Saute garlic in oil until golden. Combine cream cheese with half and half then stir in bacon, garlic, blue cheese and chives.

3. Spoon mixture into an oven-proof bowl and bake for 30 minutes or until warmed through.

Onion Rings

Makes 4 to 6 servings

Ingredients:

1 quart oil, for frying

1-1/2 cups all purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 egg

1 cup milk

1 large onion, cut into 1/4 inch slices

3/4 cup bread crumbs

Directions:

1. Heat oil in a deep skillet to 365 degrees F.

2. In a shallow dish, combine flour with baking powder and salt. In a second shallow dish, whisk egg with milk. Place breadcrumbs in a third shallow dish.

3. Dip onions in flour mixture then in milk mixture then in breadcrumbs.

4. Place onion rings in hot oil and fry until golden, about 3 to 4 minutes per side. Remove and let drain well. Serve with Blue Cheese and Garlic Dip (recipe above), ketchup or another condiment of
your choice.
