S’mores recipes

S’mores are the perfect summer treat. Whether you making them over a camp fire, on a grill or in a stove, cooking s’mores is a fun way to spend time with family and friends and enjoy a delicious summer snack.

S’more Essentials

The Cookie

Although the classic outer cookie to use for s’mores is graham crackers, just about any cookie can be used. Chocolate chips, oatmeal raisin, vanilla wafers, even the cookie part of an Oreo works great. Of course you can just stick with the classic graham cracker for a guaranteed hit.

The Chocolate

Traditional milk chocolate is usually the chocolate of choice for s’mores but you can switch it up and use white chocolate, dark chocolate, or flavored chocolate. Chocolate bars that are flavored with caramel, raspberry, or nuts make for a tasty alternative to regular milk chocolate. Andes chocolate covered mints also work well if you want a refreshingly mint treat. Or if you want to switch it up all together use a spread like peanut butter, nutella, or even jam.

The Marshmallow

Large fluffy marshmallows are perhaps the only choice for s’mores because heating mini ones will be quite difficult. You can at least have different flavors, look in your grocery store or local gourmet market for flavored marshmallows like strawberry, coconut, or chocolate or if you are really motivated you can make your own.

A Little Something Extra

For some added flavor and creativity an extra layer of ingredients. Sliced bananas, strawberries, or apples are great choices or you can sprinkle some flaked coconut, raisins, or chopped nuts over top. Mix and match flavors to the other ingredients for fun and festive s’mores that will be the hit of the day.
