Tonight’s Dinner: Hamburger Sliders

Don’t you just sometimes crave a decent burger? There are nights when the weather is kinda nippy, the kids are kinda nippy, and you’re ready to shovel everyone in the car and pay big bucks for a bad burger and some peace of mind. No need to do that with these fun little Hamburger Sliders. You can save money and feed your family a fun meal right from your very own kitchen.

If you’ve got a pound of ground beef, a couple slices of cheese, and some storebought dinner rolls, then you’ve got a meal your whole family is sure to love. While you’re preparing the sliders on the stove, invite your kids to cut the cheese slices into fun shapes with a variety of cookie cutters. They won’t be able to contain their excitement for dinner. And, you’ll feel good knowing that you’ve put them to work in a way that will actually make dinnertime a success tonight.

Hearty Hamburger Sliders

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • Seasoning salt
  • 8 cheese slices
  • 8-12 small dinner rolls, sliced in half
  • Fixin’s: Mayo, mustard, ketchup, sliced onions, tomatoes, pickles, etc.

In a large bowl, mix together hamburger, egg, and seasoning salt to taste (our family uses 1 1/2 teaspoons of seasoning salt in our burger mix). Roll into balls that are about the size of a ping pong ball, then press them to about 3/4″ in thickness. Heat a large skillet and fry the slider patties on both sides until coked through (about 4 minutes per side over medium-high heat). Serve between sliced rolls with a slive of cheese and all your favorite hamburger fixin’s.

Side Dish Suggestion: It’s cheap, easy, and super quick to grab a bag of presliced french fries from the grocery freezer section. While you’re cooking your burgers, toss the fries in the oven for a snappy side dish.
